MUJI: Stop selling shark fin soup
100 million sharks are cruelly killed every year for their flesh and fins. Japan's Muji is one of the retailers that continue to sell shark - despite claiming that it is an eco-friendly company.
In response to protests, complaints and a petition signed by over 65,000 people, Muji says eating shark fin soup is a Japanese tradition and it will continue selling it.
The shark being sold by Muji is Blue Shark - classified as "near threatened" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List. This means, Blue Sharks could be facing extinction in the near future.
